Caring Norfolk

Family Carers

Labour’s 2017 manifesto pledge to introduce a Carer’s Charter was adopted by Council. We recognise that as unpaid carers you have been left behind during the pandemic, often left for months on end with no break and no support. Without your care of, and commitment to, your loved ones the council’s social care services would not be able to cope.

We will

  • Evaluate the impact of the Carer’s Charter in genuine partnership with carers and strengthen the Charter based on your recommendations
  • Meet with carers and carers’ organisations a minimum of four times per year to listen to your experiences and agree how to work together to solve problems
  • Review the respite care policy in partnership with carers and those you care for
  • Ask you about your experience of having a carer’s assessment and use your feedback to improve the service
  • Invest further in carers support services so that you can quickly access advice and support
  • Provide clear and unbiased information to help ensure that you are claiming all income that you are entitled to
