I’m Matt Reilly and I am standing to be your County Councillor in University division on Thursday 6th May. I am very proud to call Norwich my home, having moved here several years ago with Vote my wife, Rosie. I’m 30 years old and grew up on Canvey Island in Essex. Since then I’ve lived and worked in Brighton, London and now Norwich.
I’ve always believed that we can each do our bit to make the world a better place, and that’s why I’ve spent my working life campaigning in the non-profit sector. I have worked for charities such as the National Autistic Society, as an MP’s caseworker to advocate for local residents and on many other campaigns for good causes and good candidates.
In my free time, you’ll often see me running around the streets of Norwich, or walking in our wonderful Norfolk countryside. Last year I completed all 84 miles of the Norfolk Coast Path, and I have the Peddars Way next in my sights! I’m also a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur and Glasgow Celtic supporter (yes, this season has been a difficult one!) and I cannot wait to see them both in action once life returns to normal.
If elected, I would stand up for residents in University division and work hard for you all year round. The inequality we see in our city and our county is simply unacceptable, and is the result of 11 years of Conservative governments in Westminster. I want our neighbourhoods in University to be among the best places to live in Norwich, and as we start to move forward after lockdown, I will work hard to ensure our fine city gets back on its feet.
