Having lived all my life in the Borough I understand only too well the issues faced by residents over many years. From being a councillor in the 80’s and 90’s and being member of parliament from 1997 to 2010 and back as councillor from 2018 to date I have first-hand knowledge and experience of representing all residents on many varied issues.
But it’s not just in politics that I have experience. I started my working life as an engineer at Erie Electronics in 1970 and them moving in to the oil and gas sector and finally employed by local firm Gardline as Business development adviser from 2010 to 2018 looking for business opportunities globally.
It’s that mix of experience, along with local knowledge, that makes me the candidate of choice to represent the residents of Lothingland as your County Councillor. Throughout the years of being a councillor I have always ensured All residents have my contact details and I, along with fellow councillors, hold regular roving surgeries. As Member of Parliament I again ensured residents had my contact details along with my regular advice surgeries in Belton and throughout the Borough. If elected as your County Councillor I pledge that all residents of Lothingland will have my full contact details and I will hold regular advice surgeries.
In these difficult times of the Covid 19 pandemic it is clear that we are in unchartered territory in all spheres of our lives and it is important that as we come out of the lockdown and restrictions it is vitally important that we all work together to ensure as quick and safe recovery as possible.
I am ready to play my part if elected as your County Councillor on May 6th.
