I was born and brought up in Norfolk and worked for many years in the Yarmouth area. I worked at Birds Eye Foods as a Laboratory Technician, starting in the Bacteriology Laboratory, then in the Packing Lab and finally in the Chemistry Laboratory testing new products and producing the nutritional information that you see on the back of the packaging. I moved to Caister with my husband almost 40 years ago and know village life very well. I have seen how Caister has grown over the years and know that this is happening with all villages within the Norfolk area. I am currently still in the house my husband and I bought all those years ago, living with my four dogs, I unfortunately lost my husband 15 years ago.
As an animal lover I volunteer at Norfolk & Suffolk Animal Trust as a carer and walker for the dogs and I’m also the Treasurer. We have a small charity shop where I also volunteer. I have been a Governor at Caister Junior School I enjoyed being a hands on Governor especially sitting with the children, hearing and helping them read. During the time I was there I was Chair of the Buildings Committee and Chair of the Finances Committee. There was also the decisions that needed to be made for the best outcome of the school and this involved selecting a new Headteacher and also deciding to join with the Infant School to become a Federation. I also run a community group in Caister which would normally meet once a week and I arrange speakers for each week, we are continuing to meet via zoom.
I have supported Labour for a number of years and helped out at many Elections over the the years. All my working life l was a member of a Trade Union and currently I’m a member of Unite.
I want to be able to swell the number of Labour Councillors on NCC and take control for the benefit of Norfolk.
