I love Norfolk. It is where I grew up, attended local schools, churches and youth activities. After qualifying as a teacher and spending some time in Coventry where I worked as a teacher and foster carer, I returned to Norfolk as this is where I wanted to raise my family. I worked in a unit for children with additional needs within a local primary school and training teaching assistants across the county.
I am a qualified teacher and have taught in primary schools, colleges and adults retraining and returning to education. I co-founded and am director of an award winning community interest company supporting people back into training and employment. As a foster carer I fostered over 20 children of different ages and backgrounds facilitating them on their journey to adoption or long-term foster care. I am a Chair of a pre-school committee, overseeing the care and education of young children as well as the management of staff and resources and am on the governing body of a local school. I am the mother of 5 children who are all used to an active and busy life!
I am passionate and committed to campaigning on issues which affect local people. I have supported county wide campaigns against the closure of children’s centres and SEND funding as well as national campaigns including the loss of pensions for women born in the 1950s and free school meals for children in school holidays.
I want to represent Acle and the local area at Norfolk County Council to ensure your voices are heard and to enable a Labour led council to implement policies for the benefit of all.
